So in case you haven’t heard:
LA is officially the city with the best weather in the United States! It’s something we always knew in our hearts but has not been proven by this study by Kelly Norton*. We have the most pleasant days a year with 183 days where:
the mean temperature was between (55° F and 75° F), the minimum temperature was above 45° F, the maximum temperature was below 85° F and there was no significant precipitation or snow depth
We beat out San Diego by 1 day! Take that San Diego. Sadly, San Francisco is #5 on the list, which means their smugness has probably increased instead of decreased in light of this study.
Also in case you haven’t heard:
Silver Lake has been voted out of the Eastside by the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. Since they are no longer the Eastside, and they’re most definitely not the Westside, where are they? Central LA? More importantly, how do I get there? Do I drive East or West?
While this may not seem like an incredibly important story to all of you comfortable ensconced in a defined area of your city, Curbed LA’s livefeed of the vote (by comedian Jeff Wattenhofer) will convince you otherwise. A teaser:
“Eastside” is just easier. If a coworker asks the innocent question of where I live, I can’t assume they have a working knowledge of LA’s 397 individual neighborhoods and their geographic location within. Plus, I work in Bel Air and anything east of Fairfax might as well be Rhode Island to those people.
(This before the vote.)
And those are the two most important stories of the week for the great city of Los Angeles.
